CGE Institute Trainers & Advisory Board

Our Trainers

Frank Picone joined The Institute’s parent organization, The Center for Great Expectations, in 2019, with 35 plus years’ experience, creating trauma-attuned environments in residential treatment programs and schools throughout New Jersey and the country. Frank earned his master's in social work from the Rutgers University, is a licensed clinical social worker, certified school social worker, an advanced trainer in the Nurtured Heart Approach, and founder and director of Positive Culture Change LLC.

Frank’s roles in two large residential treatment settings for youth include therapist, clinical supervisor, chief operations officer and executive director. He served as the director of the Placement Services Unit in New Jersey’s Children’s System of Care (CSOC). Frank was a key collaborator and trainer implementing the “Promising Path to Success” twelve-million-dollar, four-year Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration grant to transform New Jersey’s CSOC workforce and treatment providers to be trauma-informed, adopt the Nurtured Heart Approach and reduce the use of restraints and seclusion.

In January 2019, Frank was a vital force behind the launch of The Institute of CGE to create and deliver the Attuned School Approach for schools and the Attuned Workforce for social impact organizations. Frank is committed to the mission of The Institute—optimizing emotional intelligence for workforces and organizational cultures. The end results—enhanced critical thinking, harmonious teamwork, emotional regulation and trauma-attuned practice—all lead to more positive outcomes for youth, families, communities, and businesses.

She is a dynamic, relatable presenter both in-person and virtually with audiences, including the World Alliance for Infant Mental Health, Rutgers ECHO, St. Peter’s Hospital Ground Rounds and the National Counseling Association.
